He died on May 6, 2022, at the age of 31. The outstanding flanker began playing rugby at the age of 14 and was a versatile player as well as a strong and athletic athlete in his position.

Kelly died of a severe cold and drowning after falling from the Pont-Vieux bridge into the Avre river.

The 32-year-old flanker was playing for Montauban, who had just defeated Narbonne in the second tier of France’s Pro D2 on Friday (Saturday NZ time).

Meafua and his teammates were celebrating Montaubaun’s victory in the season’s final home game when he plunged from a height of more than 20 meters into the Tarn River, according to French news reports.
