George Akerlof Wife: Who Is Janet Yellen?

Janet Yellen is the wife of American Economist and University Professor George Akerlof. They have been married since 1978.

Janet Louise Yellen is an economist as well as an academic. She has been the 78th Secretary of the Treasury of the United States since January 26, 2021. She is a Democrat who formerly served as the Federal Reserve’s 15th chair from 2014 to 2018.

Yellen is the first woman to lead the White House Council of Economic Advisers, the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury Department all at the same time.

Yellen received her undergraduate degree from Brown University in 1967 and her PhD in economics from Yale University in 1971.

She was an assistant professor at Harvard University from 1971 to 1976, after which she worked as an economist for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from 1977 to 1978, before joining the faculty of the London School of Economics from 1978 to 1980.

Yellen has published a few extensively recognised publications, frequently collaborating on research with her husband, Professor George Akerlof.
